About Us

Introduction: The Delaware Select Soccer Club (DSSC) is DYAA’s competitive soccer program. DSSC teams play their regular season games in the Mid Ohio Select Soccer League (MOSSL) and participate in at least two select, invitational tournaments. DSSC boasts over 20 competitive boys and girls select teams playing in the U-9 through U-19 Age divisions. In total, there are over 230 boys and girls playing select soccer through DSSC. We will be starting a U8 Academy program for our younger kids wanting to play mossl.

But it’s not just about the size of our select soccer program; it’s also about the consistently high quality of our performance (on and off the field). DSSC boasts League Champions and Tournament Champions during every spring and fall season!

All DSSC teams play in the Mid Ohio Select Soccer League’s regular season (MOSSL) and also participate in MOSSL’s season-ending tournament. In addition, all DSSC teams participate in at least one Ohio Invitational tournament per season. The Delaware Select Soccer Club colors are sharp and distinctive…DSSC uses Adidas uniforms which display the DSSC and DYAA logos and player number.

Coaching and Training: Coaches and Trainers representing the Delaware Select Soccer Club are well-experienced in the sport. Each coach and trainer holds a coaches license at least at the level required by the Ohio South Youth Soccer Association. Every Delaware Select team has a Head Coach, Assistant Coach(es) and Team Administrator. In addition, teams are supported by Club Trainers. Goal keepers also attend keeper-training sessions throughout the fall and spring seasons.

DYAA reimburses all Head Coaches and Assistant Coaches for the cost of obtaining their coaches license up to and including the D-level so long as the coach dedicates him or herself to coaching a team within the Delaware Select Soccer Club for at least two years.

Tryouts: Each spring, DYAA hosts tryouts for its Delaware Select Soccer Club teams in the U-9 through U-14/15 boys and girls leagues. Whenever appropriate, DYAA sponsors two or more Delaware Select teams in the same age bracket. All tryouts are at Delaware’s Houk Rd Park or Smith Park.

If a player attends a tryout and is selected to a DSSC-MOSSL fall team, he/she does not need to try out again for spring. If a player attends a tryout and is not selected to a fall DSSC-MOSSL team, there are plenty of opportunities in the future…it simply means that the staff would like to see the player develop further and try out next year after playing in DYAA Rec.. for another year.

Costs: The select player’s cost is $300.00 each season, plus the cost of the player’s uniform. As you likely know, this is by far one of the lowest club/select fees anywhere. The following will be covered by the player’s registration fee:

• DYAA’s league fee
• MOSSL’s registration fee
• MOSSL’s tournament fee and field fees
• Invitational tournament fees (selected by the parents and Head Coach)
• Liability insurance for player, coaches, DYAA, MOSSL and the City
• Player allocation of stipends paid to coaches and trainers
• Player allocation of fees paid to referees

Payment: The $300 fee is due on the registration cut-off date as publicized by DYAA each winter (mid-January) for the spring season) and summer (mid-July) for the fall season. Families register on-line here. Under special circumstances, the President of DYAA could grant an exception and approve the payment of one-half of the fee on the registration cut-off date with the other one-half of the fee being paid prior to the team’s first practice.

If the second half of the fee is not received prior to the team’s first practice, the player will be removed from the roster and not permitted to play (practice or games) until payment is made. If payment of the second half of the fee is never made, the payment for the first half is forfeited.

Requests for this payment plan must be submitted in writing at least 10 days prior to the registration cut-off date as publicized by DYAA. Requests should be sent to admin@dyaasoccer.org.

Regular Season League Play: DSSC teams play in the Mid Ohio Select Soccer League (MOSSL)

Tournament Play: DSSC teams play in one Central Ohio Invitational tournament plus in the season-ending MOSSL tournament

Professional Coaches/Trainers: Head Coaches/Trainers with at least 2 years varsity college and/or professional playing experience and/or high school or college coaching experience

Parent Coaches: Selected by DYAA's Director of Coaching and Board with at least an E or F coaches license (through the United States Soccer Federation)

Parent Team Administrator: Selected by the Head Coach and handles the team's administrative matters (i.e. carding, calling, logistics, tournament registration)

Time Commitment: 2 games per week during the 5 or 6 week season, season-ending tournament, training sessions as scheduled by the Head Coach, pre-season training

Travel Commitment: Home games and training sessions at Smith and/or Mingo Park, away games in Central Ohio - typically Columbus metropolitan communities

Financial Commitment: $300 per season covering all DYAA league fees, MOSSL fees, tournament and field fees, uniforms, liability insurance, stipends for professional coaches/trainers
